Gosforth Tourist Information
Gosforth resides amid the Newcastle upon Tyne Metropolitan borough within the county of Tyne and Wear in North East England in the UK. This location was identified as an urban district up until 1974; it was later unified with Newcastle County. It is believed that Gosforth was first founded in 1166. In the early 1800s this location had a population just over 1300 inhabitants, and in 2001 there were more than 18,200 inhabitants: these figures illustrate the locations progressive growth over time.
There are a total of five transportation centres that serve the Gosforth area which include Regent Centre, Fawdon, Ilford Road, Wansbeck Road, and South Gosforth stations. Within the area, there are plenty of things to do and see as well: the St. Nicholas Church was erected in the year 1799, and estates like Brunton Park, Great Park, and Melton Park are major tourist attractions. Of the latter three estates, Melton has a fantastic history and presents chapel ruins dated to the medieval era. For those that love a good game of golf, there is a ninety acre golf course in the area too which was first opened to the public in the year 2006. Shopping, dining, and more can be enjoyed in Gosforth.
