Pancrate impresses in Magpies win
Newcastle Uniteds French trialist Fabrice Pancrate made a bright impression in Tuesdays 3-2 reserve win against Hartlepool United. The 29-year-old winger made a goal for striker Phil Airey, 18, who notched a brace with Denmark international forward Peter Lovenkrands also scoring.
Pools took the lead through an own-goal from defender Matthew Grieve, prior to Lovenkrands effort.
Pools then took the lead again through Billy Greulich before Aireys double.
Pancrate has been training with the Magpies following his release by French Ligue 1 club Paris Saint Germain during the summer and played 91 games while at PSG including Uefa Cup ties.
Among his previous clubs are Guingamp, Le Mans and Sochaux, as well as Spanish side Real Betis.
The Magpies have been seeking cover on the flanks following the departure of winger Damien Duff to Fulham earlier in the season.
Argentinas Jonas Gutierrez and Lovenkrands are the clubs recognised wingers, although the Dane is also used as a main striker.
